孟子曰：“道在迩［1］而求诸远，事在易
而求诸难。人人亲其亲、长其长而天下平。”
Mencius said, “The path of duty lies in what
is near, and men seek for it in what is remote. The
work of duty lies in what is easy, and men seek for
it in what is difficult. If each man would love his
parents and show the due respect to his elders, the
whole land would enjoy tranquillity.”
【注释】［1］迩：近。
【译文】孟子说：“道在近处却往远处寻找，
事情原本容易却往难处去做。只要每个人都
爱自己的亲人，尊敬自己的长辈，那么天下
就会太平。”
