子在陈曰：“归与！归与！吾党之小子
狂简［1］，斐然成章，不知所以裁［2］之。”
When the Master was in Ch’an, he said, “Let
me return! Let me return! The little children of
my school are ambitious and too hasty. They are
accomplished and complete so far, but they do not
know how to restrict and shape themselves. ”
【注释】［1］狂：狂放不羁。简：大。《尔雅》：
“简，大也。”《尚书·尧典》：“简而无傲。”
《孟子·尽心下》：“狂简进取。”［2］裁：
裁剪，裁制。
【译文】孔子在陈国，说：“回去吧！回去吧！
我家乡的弟子们狂放志大，才华横溢，文采
华盛，不知如何调教他们。”
