孟子曰：“贤者以其昭昭［1］，使人昭昭；
今以其昏昏，使人昭昭。”
Mencius said, “Anciently, men of virtue and
talents by means of their own enlightenment made
others enlightened. Nowadays, it is tried, while they
are themselves in darkness, and by means of that
darkness, to make others enlightened.”
【注释】［1］昭昭：明白。
【译文】孟子说：“贤人先使自己明白，然后
才去使别人明白；今天的人则是自己稀里糊
涂，却想去使别人明白。”
【解读】本章孟子阐述了贤人与今人在教育问题
上的不同之处，批评那些“以己之昏，责人
