孟子曰：“舜之饭糗茹［1］草也，若将终
身焉；及其为天子也，被袗衣，鼓琴，二女果［2］，
若固有之。”
Mencius said, “Shun’s manner of eating his
parched grain and herbs was as if he were to be
doing so all his life. When he became sovereign, and
had the embroidered robes to wear, the lute to play,
and the two daughters of Yao to wait on him, he
was as if those things belonged to him as a matter of
course.”
【注释】［1］饭：动词，吃。糗（qi^）：干粮。
茹（r%）：动词，吃。［2］果：通“婐”（w6），
侍候。
【译文】孟子说：“舜在啃干粮吃野菜的时候，
