子 曰：“ 莫 我 知 也 夫！” 子 贡 曰：“ 何
为其莫知子也？”子曰：“不怨天，不尤［1］人，
下学而上达。知我者其天乎！”
The Master said, “Alas! there is no one that
knows me.” Tsze-kung said, “What do you mean by
thus saying — that no one knows you?” The Master
replied, “I do not murmur against Heaven. I do not
grumble against men. My studies lie low, and my
penetration rises high. But there is Heaven; — that
knows me!”

【译文】孔子说：“没有人了解我啊！”子贡说：
“为什么没有人了解您呢？”孔子说：“不
怨恨天，不责怪人，从基础学起，上达于高
