子曰：“善人为邦百年，亦可以胜残去
杀矣。诚哉是言也！”
The Master said, “ ‘If good men were to govern
a country in succession for a hundred years, they
would be able to transform the violently bad, and
dispense with capital punishments.’ True indeed is
this saying!”
【译文】孔子说：“仁善的人治理国家一百年，
也可以遏制残暴、废除刑罚杀戮了。这话是
真的呀！”
【解读】我们不知道“善人为邦百年，亦可以
胜残去杀”出于何人之口，孔子深有感悟并
把此语当作一种信念是毋庸置疑的。孔子说
此话的语境已经不在，历史的底色明白无误
