子适卫，冉有仆［1］。子曰：“庶［2］矣哉！”
冉有曰：“既庶矣，又何加焉？”曰：“富之。”
曰：“既富矣，又何加焉？”曰：“教之。”
When the Master went to Wei, Zan Yu acted
as driver of his carriage. The Master observed, “How
numerous are the people!” Yu said, “Since they are
thus numerous, what more shall be done for them?”
“Enrich them,” was the reply. “And when they have
been enriched, what more shall be done?” The
Master said, “Teach them.”
【注释】［1］仆：驾车。［2］庶（sh&）：众多。
【译文】孔子到卫国，冉有驾车。孔子说：“这
里的人口真多啊！”冉有说：“人口已经够
多了，然后该做什么？”孔子说：“使他们
