子曰：“君子义以为质，礼以行之，孙［1］
以出之，信以成之。君子哉！”
The Master said, “The superior man in
everything considers righteousness to be essential.
He performs it according to the rules of propriety.
He brings it forth in humility. He completes it with
sincerity. This is indeed a superior man.”
【注释】［1］孙：通“逊”，谦逊。
【译文】孔子说：“君子以义为做事的根本，
用礼来实行它，用谦逊的态度来表达它，靠
诚信来完成它。这才是真正的君子啊！”
【解读】孔子在本章强调“道义”是君子的本质，
也是为人处世的第一原则。凡天下事，只要
