子曰：“道千乘［1］之国，敬事而信，节
用而爱人，使民以时。”
The Master said, “To rule a country of a
thousand chariots, there must be reverent attention
to business, and sincerity; economy in expenditure,
and love for men; and the employment of the people
at the proper seasons.”
【注释】［1］道（d2o）：同“导”。千乘（sh-ng）：
一千辆兵车。古时四匹马驾一辆车合称“乘”。
【译文】孔子说：“领导治理拥有千辆兵车的
国家，应当恭敬从事，诚信不欺，节约用度，
爱护人民，役使民众选择适宜之时。”
【解读】此章针对为政者而谈，强调了敬业、守
