孺悲欲见孔子，孔子辞以疾。将命者出户，
取瑟而歌，使之闻之。
Zu Pei wished to see Confucius, but Confucius
declined, on the ground of being sick, to see him.
When the bearer of this message went out at the
door, the Master took his lute and sang to it, in order
that Pei might hear him.
【译文】鲁国人孺悲想见孔子，孔子以有病为
由推辞不见。传命的人刚出门，孔子就取出
瑟来弹奏歌唱，故意让孺悲听到。
【解读】孔子为何不想见孺悲？朱熹曰：“孺悲，
鲁人，尝学士丧礼于孔子。当是时必有得罪者。
故辞以疾，而又使知其非疾，以警教之也。”
