孟子谓乐正子曰：“子之从于子敖来，
徒 啜［1］也。我不意子学古之道，而以 啜也。”
Mencius, addressing the disciple Yuezheng,
said to him, “Your coming here in the train of Zi-
ao was only because of the food and the drink. I
could not have thought that you, having learned the
doctrine of the ancients, would have acted with a
view to eating and drinking.”
【注释】［1］ （b&）：吃。啜：喝。
【译文】孟子对乐正子说：“你这次跟随子敖来，
只为吃喝呀。我不希望你学习古人之道，只
是用来混吃混喝。”
【解读】接上章，孟子对乐正子继续点拨，指明
