孟子曰：“不孝有三，无后为大。舜不
告而娶，为无后也，君子以为犹告也。”
Mencius said, “There are three things which
are unfilial, and to have no posterity is the greatest
of them. Shun married without informing his parents
because of this, lest he should have no posterity.
Superior men consider that his doing so was the
same as if he had informed them.”
【译文】孟子说：“不孝的情况有三种，尤以
没有后代最为严重。舜没有禀告父母就娶妻，
为的就是怕没有后代。所以君子认为他虽然
没有禀告也和禀告了一样。”
