孟子曰：“身不行道，不行于妻子；使
人不以道，不能行于妻子。”
Mencius said, “If a man himself do not walk in
the right path, it will not be walked in even by his
wife and children. If he order men according to what
is not the right way, he will not be able to get the
obedience of even his wife and children.”
【译文】孟子说：“自己不行正道，正道在他妻子、
儿女那里也行不通；不按正道去使唤人，那
就连妻子、儿女也使唤不动。”
【解读】本章强调个人的表率作用，同时也隐
含了儒家的知行观。孟子认为，一个人如果
自己不行正道，不按正道去使唤别人，即便
是对于自己的妻子、儿女也行不通，也使唤
