色斯举［1］矣，翔而后集。曰：“山梁雌雉［2］，
时哉！时哉！”子路共之，三嗅［3］而作。
Seeing the countenance, it instantly rises. It
flies round, and by and by settles. The Master said,
“There is the hen-pheasant on the hill bridge. At its
season! At its season!” Tsze-lu made a motion to it.
Thrice it smelt him and then rose.
【注释】［1］举：飞。［2］雉（zh#）：野鸡。
［3］嗅：“嗅”当为“狊（j%）”，鸟张两翅。
【译文】山鸡见有人来，惊疑作色地高高飞起，
飞翔一阵后又降落在一起。孔子看到这一情
景，感叹地说：“山梁上的这些雌雉，识其
时啊！识其时啊！”子路朝它们拱了拱手，
它们有些害怕，又振振翅膀飞走了。
