successive shining. All things are nourished together
without their injuring one another. The courses of
the seasons, and of the sun and moon, are pursued
without any collision among them. The smaller
energies are like river currents; the greater energies
are seen in mighty transformations. It is this which
makes heaven and earth so great.

【译文】孔子远承尧帝和舜帝，近师周文王、
周武王。上遵天时，下合地理。就像天地一
样没有不承载的，没有不覆盖的。又像四季
的交替运行，日月的交替照明。万物一起生
长互不妨害，道路同时并行互不冲突。小德
