National Museum’s Special Exhibition on Ancient Chinese Jadeware Reopened to Public

The Special Exhibition on Ancient Chinese Jadeware was reopenedat Gallery N19ofNational Museum of China onAugust 18, which featuresa total of 480 pieces (sets) of cultural relics of various kinds dating from ancient times to the late Qing Dynasty, including over 80 pieces of first-grade cultural relics.
Comprising five interconnected modules, this special exhibition serves is an attempt toexplore the historical origins of Chinese jade culture, to showcase the transition of jade from an accessory to a sacred and ceremonial object, and then to an ordinaryobject, from being reserved for emperors and aristocrats to being widely accessible to the general public, and to highlight the craftsmanship and aesthetics of jade production. It endeavors to fully delve into and expound on the spiritual culture, ethnical mentality, and aesthetic interestsimbued in ancient jades, and to embody the profound cultural traditions and superb artistic attainments of the Chinese civilization.
To grace the exhibition, more than 20 specimens of various types of ores housed in the Geological Museum of China were exhibited. It is a rare of its kind in domestic exhibitions, because of the large number of exhibits and the high profile of the cultural relics on display.
