When Confucius came to Wucheng city, where his disciple Ziyou was governing, he heard the sound of stringed instruments and singing. He smiled and said, "Why do you use the musket to kill a butterfly?" Ziyou replied, "I remember you said that if edifying people with music and rites, gentlemen would become benevolent and civilians could be easily commanded." Confucius said with satisfaction, "Everyone, Ziyou is right. What I just said is just a joke."
