Two Significant Epigrams

During his visit to Luo county, Confucius visited the imperial ancestral temple of the Zhou Dynasty. He saw a bronze figure on the steps. There were three locks on its mouth, which implied the Chinese idiom "San Jian Qi Kou" (remain mute as if one's mouth were sealed). And two epigrams were engraved on the back of it: "Don't talk too much, because one who talks much errs much! Don't mind others' business too much, because one who often interfere in others' affairs would get himself into many troubles!" Confucius sighed after watching and said, "Remember, disaster emanates from careless talk!"
