During Confucius' inspection in Luo county (now Luoyang, Henan province), the capital of Zhou dynasty, Confucius visited the imperial ancestral temple of Zhou. The four high walls were painted with the portraits of emperor Yao and Shun, emperor Jie of the Xia dynasty and emperor Zhou of the Shang dynasty, as well as the portrait of Duke Dan of Zhou dynasty holding Duke Cheng meeting feudal princes. Confucius said to his followers, "This is the reason for Zhou dynasty's prosperity."
