When Confucius was in Chu state, Duke Zhao of Chu state wanted to bestow the land of Shushe to him. Premier Zi Xi believed that Confucius was already assisted by talented disciples, and the bestowal of land would better himself and might threat Chu state. Therefore, Duke Zhao gave up the idea of bestowal. And Confucius left Chu state and returned to Wei state.
