Confucius once passed by Kuang county on his way to Chen state. His disciple Yan Gao was driving the carriage. He raised the whip, pointed to the city and said, "Many years before, I fought the way into this city through that gap with Yang Hu." Seeing them, the Kuang people thought that Yang Hu of Lu state was coming again, and Confucius also looked like him, so they detained Confucius and his disciples, which made the disciples very afraid. Confucius said, "Since the death of Duke Wen of the Zhou dynasty, the civilization of Zhou has been on me. If heaven intends to destroy the civilization of Zhou, people can no longer inherit it. But if heaven doesn't want to destroy this civilization, what can Kuang people do to me!" Confucius asked his disciple who was a retainer of Ning Wuzi in Wei state to seek help. Soon, the Kuang people knew that they had recognized the wrong person and released Confucius and his disciples five days later. Yan Hui fell behind on their way to Chen. When Yan Hui finally caught up with the group, Confucius said, "I was very worried. I thought you were dead." Yan Hui replied, "Sir, you are still living and in good health. How dare I die before you? I will always accompany you and wait on you."
