Confucius Museum presents themed performance of the Book of Songs

Recently, a music performance based onthe Book of Songs was staged in the Poetry and Rite Hall of the Confucius Museum, drawingvisitors from all over the world. The Book of Songs, which originated2,000 years ago,was presented here, allowing the audience to take in the majesty of this refined music’s enduring beauty.
The Book of Songs, as the first collection of poems in ancient China, was abridged by Confucius. In order to preserve the original performance of the Book of Songs and cater to the modern music trends and the audience’s aesthetic preferences, the restoredunearthed musical instrumentswere employed, creatinga series of stunning performancesbased on revised ancient musical scores.
It is worth noting that there are seventy-two seats in the Poetry and Rite Hall of the Confucius Museum, symbolizingthat the audience will enjoy the music the same waythe seventy-two disciples of Confucius do. The seven rows of seats are cleverly assigned seat numbers. 72tickets are distributedfor each performance, each with a distinctive design. Every ticket has a unique seat number and isdecorated with classical patterns, reflecting the Confucian culturein every detail.
The Confucius Museum launched the theme performance, fusingthe traditional rites and music culture with contemporaryarts, in a bid tospread the knowledge and culture of rites and music. The “Book of Songs”performance will be held on a regular basis inthe Confucius Museum, so that visitors can enjoy the allureof historical artifacts and thebeautifulmelodies of ancient music.
