The Special Exhibition on "Song Dynasty Calligraphy and Its Influence" commenced on September 13 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. This captivating exhibition showcases an impressive collection of nearly a hundred classic Chinese calligraphy pieces traced backto the illustrious Song Dynasty. Notably, the exhibition creates a unique juxtaposition by featuring the calligraphic masterpieces of Su Shi, a prominent figure inthe Northern Song period, and Lu You, a renowned poet inthe Southern Song period.

The exhibition unites a collection of two Song Dynasties' stone inscriptions and rubbings from several distinguished Chinese cultural institutions, including the Palace Museum, Liaoning Provincial Museum, Jilin Provincial Museum, Tianjin Museum, and more. In addition, it provides a captivating display of calligraphic masterpieces spanning the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The featured exhibits include renowned works by celebrated artists such as Cai Xiang, Zhao Mengfu, Wen Zhengming, Zhu Yunming, Xu Wei, Dong Qichang, and other luminaries in the field.

As per reports, the exhibition is scheduled to span one month. During this period, renowned experts in Song Dynasty cultural and calligraphic history have been invited to deliver academic lectures and lead specialized guided tours. Drawing on the realm of art history and in alignment with the exhibited pieces, these experts will enlighten the audience about the cultural significance encapsulated within the "Charm of the Song Dynasty".
