On February 28, a large cultural event, “Tribute to Guoxue: The 5thGuoxue Ceremony of Chinese,”was held. “Guoxue”refers to the study of traditional Chinese culture, in particular Confucianism. At the event, the Confucius Museum’s project “Spreading Ritual and Music Culture”was included in the Guoxue Activation Program.

The Ritual and Music Learning Center of the Confucius Museum was officially established on June 11, 2022. The learning center is meant to study, impart, demonstrate, and spread knowledge of Chinese ritual and music culture to connect it with modern civilizations and create a social atmosphere that embraces rituals. The learning center has studied Chinese classics such as the Book of Songs, converted them into performances, and rehearsed more than 10 performances, including the Book of Songs series, the guqin and chime performance The Moon Above the Mountain Fortress, the lute and psaltery performance The Song of Immortals, and the original song Great Confucius. Since their premiere, the performances have always had a full house. They have been arranged to entertain national, provincial, and municipal leaders and participate in large shows.

By strengthening connections between academic studies and daily lives, between elites and the public, and between the Chinese mainland and foreign countries, the Guoxue ceremony has drawn Chinese culture closer to the era and the world, making excellent Chinese traditional culture “active”and “go global.”
