On the evening of August 26, the dramaConfucius,produced by Shandong Theatrewith the supportfromChina Confucius Foundation and theConfucian Academyof Hong Kong, was staged at the Grand Theatre of Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

The drama integrates artistic elements such as music, dance, poetry, painting, Chinese opera and sculpture. On the historical background of vassal contending for hegemony in the late Spring and Autumn period, it shows the magnificent and turbulent life of Confucius, and vividly portrays the image of an ancient thinker, politician and educator who stayedtrue to his original ambitionafter much suffering.

Through eight acts such as BeingA Gentleman,Advance and Retreat,and Taking Office, thedrama links up Confucius’life cluesincluding participating in politicaladmonition;touring around various states,suffering from danger and hunger, returning to LuStatein his old ageand writing The Spring and AutumnAnnals, giving avivid presentationofConfucius’life and essenceofhis thoughtstothe audience on stage.
