Oriental Aesthetics Forum of Nishan Forum on World Civilizations Held in Milan, Italy

Under the theme of “Chinese Culture and Oriental Aesthetics,”the Oriental Aesthetics Forum of the Nishan Forum on World Civilizations was held in Milan, Italy, on May 4. As the third overseas sub-forum of the Ninth Nishan Forum on World Civilizations, this forum focused dialogue on Chinese culture and the beauty of Chinese clothing.

As outstanding representatives of oriental and western cultures, respectively, China and Italy have left remarkable legacies in the history of human civilization. The 5,000-year-old Chinese civilization has fostered oriental aesthetics and created the beauty of Chinese clothing. This forum is one of the sub-forums of the Ninth Nishan Forum on World Civilizations. It aims to tap into the splendid costume culture of the Chinese nation, showcase the unique charm of oriental aesthetics, and allow Italians to further understand Chinese civilization.

In the session of academic presentations and exchanges, experts and scholars from the Chinese and Italian fashion design communities had in-depth discussions about Chinese and western aesthetics, fashion, and design cooperation.

A number of ceremonies were held at the event, including the plaque unveiling ceremony for the College of Chinese Culture and Fashion, the signing ceremony for the memorandum of understanding between the China Confucius Foundation and the Italy China Foundation, and the ceremony for the course donation of the Shandong Design Master Class.

This Oriental Aesthetics Forum of the Nishan Forum on World Civilizations was jointly hosted by the Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies and the College of Chinese Culture and Fashion. The Nishan Forum on World Civilizations is an international comprehensive cultural forum that is named after Nishan, the birthplace of Confucius. Since its establishment in 2010, the forum has successfully held eight sessions. The Ninth Nishan Forum on World Civilizations will be held in Shandong in September this year, along with three overseas sub-forums in Thailand, Austria, and Italy, respectively.
