A tea culture-themed exhibition was opened at the Hunan Cultural Center (Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center) on March 4 to better display Chinese tea culture and spread knowledge of it. Tea products, tea sets, tea-making tools, and books on tea culture, which fall under three national intangible cultural heritage items—the Qianliang tea-making technique, the Fuzhuan tea-making technique, and the Junshan Yinzhen tea-making technique—were brought together at the exhibition.
At the exhibition, inheritors of the three tea-making techniques, relevant experts, and professionals from the tea industry had dialogues and discussions while having stove-boiled tea. The exhibition also featured tea art performances and the teaching of the teabag-making technique, allowing participants to have an immersive experience of Chinese tea culture.
It is understood that the Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center has started the careful selection of intangible cultural heritage items from across the province since the beginning of 2020 and hosted exhibitions on the items on a regular basis. The efforts of more than three years have led to 13 successful exhibitions that exhibited 1,000+ works and received 50,000+ visitors, connecting Hunan’s intangible cultural heritage items with people’s daily lives.
