Symposium on “Confucianism from the perspective of social science” held in Jinan

On May 16, the symposium on “Confucianism from the perspective of social science” hosted by Nishan World Center for Confusion Studies and China Confucius Foundation was held in Jinan.

More than 20 experts from colleges and universities, and research institutions such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Party School of the Central Committee of CPC, Shandong University, etc., conducted an in-depth discussion on how to carry out innovative research on Confucianism in the new era from the perspective of social science. 

Chen Lai, Dean of the Tsinghua Academy of Chinese Learning and Director of the Academic Committee of Nishan World Center for Confusion Studies, noted that the project “Confucianism from the perspective of social science” not only embodied the new concept of Confucius Studies, but also reflected the new trend of Confucian research from the perspective of social science, which would have a far-reaching impact on the study of Confucianism in the future. 

Wang Xuedian, Executive Dean of the Advanced Institute for Confucian Studies, Shandong University and Editor-in-chief of Confucius Studies, stated that through discussions of experts, exchange of ideas, and in-depth exploration of the profound content of social science contained in Confucian thought, it would play a positive role in enriching the academic content of Confucius Studies and improving the journal quality.

Experts attending the symposium believed that this symposium was of great significance to the prosperity and development of philosophy and social science, and to actively explore the creative transformation and innovative development of excellent traditional Chinese culture represented by Confucian thought.
