Recently, the first ChinaDulcimer Elite Performance and QingdaoDulcimer CulturalFestival was held in Jimo District, Qingdao. The event included a grand opening ceremony, a worlddulcimer culture concert, a performance by Chinesedulcimer elites, a forum for worlddulcimer masters, and special concerts.

On May 3rd, nearly 500dulcimermusicians, teenagers,andchildren from more than 10 countries and regions performed together the pieceDulcimers’Melody of Harmony, bringing the event to a climax.The ensemble pieceDulcimers’Melody of Harmony, led by Professor Xu Zhijun, director of the Chinese Instruments Department of the China Conservatory of Music, and renowned conductor, together with young conductor Ma Shuai from the Conducting Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, was performed by six different types of dulcimers from the four major dulcimer systems worldwide.

In the afternoon of the same day, a face-to-face event between Chinese and foreign young dulcimer players, one of the series events of the Qingdao Dulcimer Cultural Festival, was held in the ancient city of Jimo, Qingdao. Young dulcimer players from China and abroad gathered with music students from home and abroad to have a dialogue on dulcimer performance. Renowned dulcimer educators and performers from more than 10 countries and regions attended the event to showcase the unique charm of dulcimer art from around the world, allowing participants to have the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the development history and cultural background of dulcimer art, and fully experience its charm.

During the event, Chinese and foreigndulcimer musicians, togetherwith students from home and abroad,engagedinadialogue in the name of music, from professionaldulcimerlearning to performance skills and practicein life,offeringthe audience a professional and vivid feast of music.
