The opening ceremony of the first Annual Conference on the Protection of China’s Intangible Cultural Heritage was held in Yulin, Shaanxi province, on February 18. With the theme ofEnhancing the Allure of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the event includedathemed forum and a vintage trades fair.

On the eve of the opening ceremony, the fairopened in Yulin Old Street. The 4,800-square-meterExhibition Hall brought together203 national and provincial intangible cultural heritage projects and more than 500 heritage craftsmenfrom all over China. More than 100 boothswith regional cultural characteristics were lined up in perfect order,showcasingheritage protection efforts.

At the opening ceremony, the organizers announceda number of intangible cultural heritage projects, including the 2021 Top 10 most influential intangible cultural heritage promotions, the National Support Program for YoungHeritage Craftsmen and financial support for intangible cultural heritage projects. Enchanting intangible cultural heritageshows, such as Tai Chi, puppet long silk dance, Northern Shaanxi storytelling, and Northern Shaanxi Yangko,were performed.

This annual conferenceaims to enhancethe protectionof intangible cultural heritage and integrate it into modern life.
