The "Friendly Shandong Remarkable Shandong" presenting event was held recently at the 2024 Osaka Mid-Autumn Moon Festival in Osaka, Japan. The event aims to comprehensively show the new achievements of Shandong in economic and social development in the new era, and promote the positive image of “Friendly Shandong Remarkable Shandong” through abundant agricultural products, exquisite handicrafts, intangible cultural heritage products and advanced technological products.

The event featured a special Rizhao exhibition area, where a wide array of cultural and creative products attracted many visitors. The exhibits were rich in content and uniquely representing Rizhao, including Rizhao green tea, Juxian door paper, ginkgo tree picture frames, scented pouches and tea sets embroidered with Rizhao farmer paintings, Wulianembroidered tiger hats, tiger-head shoes, insoles, as well as Rizhao cultural and creative city blind boxes, refrigerator magnets of Rizhao city scenery, canvas bags, mouse pads, handmade soaps, bookmarks, and brooches. These cultural and creative products not only showcased Rizhao’s rich cultural heritage and artistic charm but also became an important bridge for cultural exchange between China and Japan.

Rizhao farmer paintings were also exhibited on-site.It is reported thatRizhao farmer paintings originated from smear painting and are characterized by full compositions, bright colors, and a simple and honest style.Local agricultural practices, fishing life, and folk customsare all selected as the main content, reflecting the joy of Rizhao people over their harvest and their longing and pursuit of a better life. Visitors could not only appreciate the farmer paintings up close but also learn about the local traditional folk culture through these works.

“The colors of Rizhao’s farmer paintings are very bright, making me feel very cheerful. I am very happy to have the opportunity to come to the Rizhao exhibition area to see these works,” said Osaka citizen KouichiMasuda, expressing his admiration for Rizhao farmer paintings after viewing them.

The successful holding of this event not only provided a platform for Japanese people to gain an in-depth understanding of Rizhao but also further promoted cultural exchange and cooperation between China and Japan.
