Recently, a major breakthrough was made in the archaeological excavation of Qingchi Site in 2023.

In the two excavation areas in 2023, the strata of the late Paleolithic period and the strata and remains of the transition period of the Old and Neolithic periods were revealed respectively, and more than 1,000 cultural relics specimens of different textures such as paleolithic and Neolithic stone tools, grinding stone tools, pottery, bone tools, and animal bones were unearthed, providing important archaeological evidence for exploring the origin of Tianjin culture.

Qingchi Site is located in Jizhou District, Tianjin. In 2015, in the process of carrying out the National Social Science Fund project "Comprehensive Research on the Transitional Remains of the Old and Neolithic Age in Tianjin Area", the Tianjin Cultural Heritage Protection Center conducted a review of Qingchi and found that there were clues about the distribution of Paleolithic remains at Qingchi site. The discovery of the remains of the Neolithic Age at this site has advanced the human history of Tianjin area to the middle stage of the Neolithic Age about 8000 years ago.
