The Exhibition of China Weifang’s Intangible Cultural Heritage kicked off on June 14, 2023 at Chinese Cultural Center in Tokyo, Japan. This is the second time that Weifang has brought its intangible cultural heritage to Japan, with the aim of "using culture as a medium to enhance understanding, strengthen friendship, and promote Sino-Japanese relations."
Weifang is where the Chinese Qi culture and Lu culture originated from, inherited and carried forward. As the national-level Qilu Culture (Weifang) Ecological Protection Zone, it was listed as the Culture City of East Asia in 2024 for its profound cultural heritage and unique cultural charm.
Representatives of Weifang Fruit Pit Carving, Yangjiabu Woodblock New Year Painting, Weifang Kite, Gaomi Paper Cutting, and other national intangible cultural heritage performed their crafts at the exhibition.
It is reported that the event will last until June 23, with an exhibition period of up to 10 days.
The entire event will be open to Japanese citizens and tourists free of charge. The event, highly visual, immersive and experience-oriented, will provide a wonderful intangible cultural heritage feast for Sino-Japanese exchanges and friendship.
