The delegation of international students experiencing Dezhou visited Debai Tourism Town in Xiajin County on June 11, to experience the local traditional culture.
Entering the General's Palace ofDebai Tourism Town, the expats were stunned by the ancient and elegant architecture. It is a typical Qing Dynasty ancient building group and is the former residence of General Wang Daocheng during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. It is well preserved, and favored by tourists for its antique architectural style and abundant cultural deposits.
The courtyard of the palace contains two rows of buildings, the first row for reception and the second are opera theaters. Generally, local classic operas are performed in the theaters, such as Beijing Opera, Lv opera, Liuqin Opera, as well as Madi blowing opera, a local provincial intangible cultural heritage, letting people enjoy the charm of ancient culture and art up close.
In the General’s Palace, international students listened carefully to the interpretation of the guide and were deeply impressed by the story while appreciating the charm of Huizhou architecture and the essence of Huizhou merchant culture. They also tried on Hanfu, learned etiquette, and experienced Hanfu culture. "Being able to experience Chinese culture is very interesting to me. I enjoyed the process of learning about new things and having the opportunity to wear traditional Chinese Hanfu." said Yu Soomin, from South Korea.
Al-Moayed Zaid Abdulrazaq Ali, from Yemen, also felt excited when he tried on traditional Chinese Hanfu. "Today's visit was very enjoyable and gave me an insight into the culture of different regions of China, such as Beijing, Sichuan and Guangdong.” he said. “These ancient buildings, which I had only seen on TV before, were extraordinarily real to me today. In addition, we also experienced the ancient Chinese costumes, which left a deep impression on me. I really enjoyed this trip to Dezhou." he added.
