As a supporting event for the Yellow River Culture Forum, the 2023 Shandong Spring Yellow River Bazaar kicked off on April 17 in Dongying City, E China. At the bazaar, people can enjoy local cuisine, intangible cultural heritage and folk customs from cities and regions along the Yellow River.

With four activity themes, the fair provided sale promotions of eight types of products including handicrafts, intangible cultural heritage, and agricultural machines through online platforms and at on-site traditional rural bazaars to satisfy people’s need for a better life.

The bazzar is divided into seven parts, with handmade folk customs exhibtion area covering more than 1,000 square meters, serving intangible cultural heritages of the nine provinces and regions along the Yellow River. Among them, a special agricultural products exhibition, covering 1,800 square meters, presents more than 500 kinds of characteristic agricultural products from nine provinces and regions along the Yellow River.

People can see not only intangible cultural heritages such as straw products, cloth dolls from cities along the Yellow River in Shandong Province, but also those from the provinces and regions along the Yellow River, such as embroidery from Qinghai Province, tile carving and clay xun, a music instrument, from Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and Morin Khuur and Urat copper and silver ware from Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, etc.

It is reported that the Yellow River Fair will be held every weekend in the future, offering more opportunities for people to enjoy hand-made folk customsand high-quality agricultural products, food and fairs from provinces and regions along the Yellow River.

Since the beginning of this year, based on the “Cultural Tourism Plus”, Dongying City has planned to open five new Yellow River bazaars and launch five themed activities, to inject new vigor into the city’s cultural tourism market for a better Chinese traditional culture atmosphere.
