On the afternoon of November 29, the Krirk University Branch (Thailand) of Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies was inaugurated at the university in Thailand. Guo Chengyan, Party Secretary and Deputy Director of the Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies (Secretariat of the China Confucius Foundation) and Deputy Director and Secretary General of the China Confucius Foundation, attended the event and delivered a speech online.
According to Guo Chengyan, the establishment of the branch is an innovative action to implement the commitment of the heads of China and Thailand to building a China-Thailand community with a shared future. He expressed his hope for the branch to leverage its advantages to facilitate Confucian studies, exchange of scholars, dialogues on civilization, collaborative education programs, the development of sinologists, mutual visits, and collaboration. He expected the branch to grow into a new bridge for Chinese and Thai civilizations to communicate with and learn from each other.
In his speech, Dr. Krasae Chanawong extended his congratulations for the inauguration of the branch. He said that Confucianism had a pivotal influence on Chinese culture and that the sayings of Confucius cited by President Xi Jinping at the just-ended APEC meeting were very impressive. He hoped that the establishment of the branch would further promote friendship between China and Thailand and their cultural development.
The selection of Krirk University, a famous comprehensive university in Thailand, aims to capitalize on its strengths in overseas education and cultural development for academic research on Confucianism, the development of talents, academic exchange, and cultural communication.
