The 2022 China (Qufu) International Confucius Cultural Festival and The Eighth Nishan Forum on World Civilizations was held in Qufu from September 26 to 28. More than 800 experts and scholars from 22 countries and regions participated in the forums, interviews, and dialogues at the event, online or offline. They had discussions on the theme “diversity of human civilization and values shared by humanity,” contributing the “Nishan wisdom” to the development of human civilization.

　　Long Yongtu, Vice Chair of the Organizing Committee of the Nishan Forum on World Civilizations, has witnessed China’s opening up and accession to the WTO. According to him, in a context marked by the strong surge of international trade protectionism, unilateralism, and reversal of globalization, it is very necessary and timely to discuss the unique value and significance of Confucian entrepreneurs in the new era and to study the construction of Confucian entrepreneurship and modern business civilization. China made two solemn promises when joining the WTO 21 years ago. First, it would comply with the rules. Second, it would open up its market. According to Confucian beliefs in honesty, benevolence, and responsibility, “a man cannot succeed without honesty” and “one should benefit all people in the world when better off.” China has relied on its rich cultural heritage to keep the two promises. This is of great significance for China to address the reversal of globalization, promote economic development on the basis of real multilateralism, and realize the goal of building a community with a shared future for mankind under the concept of “one world, one family.”
