Nishan Forum on Classical Civilizations Successfully Held in Vienna

The Nishan Forum on Classical Civilizations under the theme “exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and western cultures” was successfully held at the Vienna International Centre on May 2. This forum is an important part of the 2023 UN Chinese Language Day in Vienna as well as a key activity under the framework of the Nishan Forum on World Civilizations.
The Nishan Forum on World Civilizations is an international comprehensive cultural forum that is in response to the United Nations’ initiative on conducting dialogues among different world civilizations and named after Nishan, the birthplace of Confucius. Since its establishment in 2010, the forum has successfully held eight sessions. The Ninth Nishan Forum on World Civilizations will be held in Qufu, Shandong, in September this year. Held during the UN Chinese Language Day at the headquarters of the United Nations in Vienna, this Nishan Forum on Classical Civilizations is a vivid embodiment of the dialogue and interaction between Chinese and western cultures, the implementation of the global civilization initiative, and the human wish for multilateralism.
Noted experts and scholars from China, Germany, Austria, and Italy had in-depth discussions at the session of academic presentations and exchanges. Through more than two hours of dialogues and exchanges, they formed the Vienna Consensus of the Nishan Forum on Classical Civilizations, agreeing on the initiative to uphold civilization equality, safeguard the beauty of persity, promote dialogues among civilizations, seek ways for communication, drive mutual learning among civilizations, jointly solve problems of the era, advance the progress of civilizations, and realize the dreams of mankind.
