On February 17, the first lecture of the "Qilu VisitingResearch Program" series and the seventeenth lecture of the "Cultural Exchange and Mutual Learning between China and Foreign Countries" series washeld at the Academic Lecture Hall of ChinaConfucius Research Institute.Branko Balon, chairman of the Croatia-China Friendship Association and professor of Computer Science at ALGEBRA University in Zagreb, Croatia,delivered the lecture with the title "The Inheritance of Civilization: Guarding the Spiritual Home of Mankind".

The lecture mainly focused on "What is the inheritance of civilization, the threat to the spiritual home of mankind, the spiritual legacy left by Confucius, and how to protect spiritual home of mankind" and other questions.Balonpointed out that civilization is the collective heritage of human knowledge, values, culture and traditions. This heritage not only includesthe material heritage such as monumental buildings or artifacts, but also deeply rootsin the spiritual and moral dimension of humanity.The Confucian philosophy created by Confucius is a model of the spiritual heritage of mankind, emphasizing moral cultivation, harmonious social relations, and collective interests, providing a spiritual home and a treasure house of wisdom for China and all humanity.Various measures should be taken to protect this spiritual heritage.Balon also introduced the civilizational exchanges between Croatia and China in history and contemporary times with pictures and text, and actively interacted with experts and listeners on the spot during the question-and-answer session.
