President Wang Lizhi of America East Shandong Association said in the speech that we can better feel the wisdom of Confucianism as the world today is confronted by the spread of COVID-19 and tensional international relations. Confucius said: “Matters that one should be most serious about include sacrificial ceremony, war and epidemic.” Confucius attached equal importance to epidemic, sacrificial ceremony, and war, reflecting the profundity and depth of Confucianism. Faced with the ravaging COVID-19, China demonstrated high level of awe and cautiousness, speaking volume of the characteristic of Chinese culture that puts live and people first.
